Dr. Lars Hänsel was born in 1967 in Bautzen/Saxony. He studied theology, jewish history and interreligious studies in Leipzig, Tübingen and Jerusalem. He competed his doctorate (Dr. theol.) in 1999 at the University of Leipzig with a study on the aspects of the social and legal history of ancient Israel under the Persians. Dr Hänsel works at the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) since 1999. Between 2006 and 2011 he was Head of the KAS office in Jerusalem and Country Representative of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung in Israel, focusing on peacebuilding, Israeli-Palestinian dialogue, German-Israeli / European-Israeli relations. Between 2011 and 2016 he was Head of the KAS office in Washington with responsibility for the USA and Canada. Since October 2016 he is Head of the Department Europe / North America in the Directorate of European and International Cooperation.
