Thomas Farole is a lead economist in the World Bank’s Social Protection and Jobs Global Practice, where he focuses on research and operations linked to the global jobs agenda. Prior to, he was a senior economist in the Trade & Competitiveness Global Practice and country economist for Botswana. His work at the Bank has focused on productivity, trade and industrial policy, and regional economic development. He holds a PhD in Economic Geography and an MSc in Local Economic Development from the London School of Economics (LSE), and a BSc in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania.
