Constantine Polychronopoulos is Vice President, 5G & Telco Cloud, at Juniper Networks. Before Juniper, he was VP and CTO at VMware, leading VMware’s products and solutions in the 4G & 5G markets. Prior to VMware, he served as VP & CTO of Cloud Networking at Citrix, following the acquisition of Bytemobile, Inc. in 2012. As Founder & CTO of Bytemobile, he led the development of innovative technologies and products for web, streaming video and transport protocol optimization for mobile networks that were deployed in 165 major wireless operators around the world.
Before founding Bytemobile, Constantine was a Professor in the Dept. of Electrical and Computer Engineering and served as Director of the Center for Supercomputing R&D at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. His work has resulted in more than 160 research papers and more than 35 issued and pending patents. He served on the governance committee of the University of Patras during 2012-2016, and among his recognitions are the NSF Presidential Young Investigator award, the 1998 Bodossaki Foundation Award in Engineering, and the Pascal Chair Professorship at the University of Leiden, The Netherlands. In 2015 he was named among the 50 innovators in the 50-year history of the Computer Science Dept. of the University of Illinois. He received his PhD from the University of Illinois, his MS from Vanderbilt University, and his BSc from the University of Athens.
