George Th. Mavrogordatos graduated from the University of Athens in Politics and Economics (1967), and in Law (1969). M.A. in Political Science, Purdue University (1972). Ph.D. in Political Science, University of California, Berkeley (1979). He has taught at the University of Athens Modern Greek History, Comparative Politics, and Political Sociology, including courses on World War II, on American Politics and on Athenian democracy. He has also taught as a visiting professor at Tufts University, the University of Salzburg, the Johns Hopkins University Bologna Center, and the University of California, Berkeley. His books include Stillborn Republic, for which he received the Woodrow Wilson Foundation Award of the American Political Science Association in 1984. His most recent books (in Greek) were entitled Pressure Groups and Democracy (2001), 1915: The National Schism (2015), and After 1922: The Prolongation of the Schism (2017).
