Iakovos Michailidis

Iakovos Michailidis serves as Professor of Modern and Contemporary History. In the academic year 2012-2013 he served as a Visiting Professor at the University of Cyprus. In the 2019-2020 academic year, he received a scholarship from the Fulbright Foundation and was a Visiting Researcher at George Washington University. In the same year he was an Academic Visitor at the University of Oxford. He has worked as an Expert for the Western Balkans on the Economic and Social Committee of the European Union. He is the head of the Research Center of the Society for Macedonian Studies and a member of many Greek and European scientific networks and organizations, such as the European thematic history network Clioh / Cliohnet. He was a historical consultant (together with Professor Thanos Veremis) of the SKAI TV series "1821", of the historical documentary "Twice a Stranger" shown on NET TV and the historical documentary "The ten-year expedition of Greece 1912-1923" which was shown by Cosmote History. He has also edited the historical tributes of SKAI 100.3 radio on the subject of the Balkan Wars, the Asia Minor Campaign, Eleftherios Venizelos, the Occupation and the Civil War.
