Joachim Gryspolakis
Professor Emeritus and former Rector of the Technical University of Crete, Greece

He graduated from Varvakeion Prototype School and was awarded the Bachelor in Mathematics from Aristotelian University of Thessaloniki in 1970. He served the Greek Army and continued his graduate studies at the University of Houston and Wayne State University, in Michigan. He was awarded his Master degree and Ph.D. in 1976. He has taught as assistant professor and visiting professor at different universities in the USA and Canada and the University of Crete. In 1984 he was elected Professor of Mathematics at the Technical University of Crete until 2014. He served as Vice President of Finance and Planning 1089-1993, Vice Rector 1999-2005 and Rector 2005-2010. He is the author and co-author of many research papers. He has participated as a member of the Editorial Group for laws concerning Higher Education. Since 2014 he has been Professor Emeritus of the Technical University of Crete.
