Makis Provatas

Born in Athens, Makis Provatas graduated from the Ampelokipi 3rd Lyceum. He graduated from the School of Dentistry of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He has been presenting radio broadcasts on a daily basis since 1999. During the last four years, he has been working in Athens Voice Radio 102.5 fm. Makis Provatas has interviewed more than 350 Greek and non-Greek scientists, writers, theater or film directors, artists and politicians such as Stephen Hawking, Dario Fo, Noam Chomsky, Eric HobsbawmRichard DawkinsYuval Noah HarariJohn Cleese, Irvin Yalom, Carlos Fuentes, Eduardo Galeano, Patti Smith, John Malkovich, Garry KasparovMikhail Baryshnikov and others. These interviews have been published in Greek newspapers and magazines: To Vima, VIMAgazino and Athens Voice. He collaborates with the magazine ‘Istoria’ writing articles and taking interviews from Greek politicians such as Konstantinos Mitsotakis.

He has co-authored five books, in conversation with renowned Greek scientists and politicians. “On the third rock from the Sun” (alongside with theoretical physicist Dimitris Nanopoulos), “Only a few kilometers - Stories about History” and “Roots and Foundations - Landmarks from Hellenism’s History” (both alongside with historian Maria Efthymiou). “Going from Decevo to the Drone- Progress and Peace in the 21st century” (alongside with Anna Diamantopoulou, President of Diktio - Network for Reform in Greece and Europe). “All in a lifetime” (alongside with Space exploration scientist Stamatis Krimizis).
