Sotiris Petropoulos is Assistant Professor at the Department of Political Science and International Relations of the University of the Peloponnese. He is also the Co-founder of HIGGS, a nonprofit focusing on capacity building, networking and consultancy support to Greek nonprofit organizations and social economy initiatives. During the period 2008-2013 he acted as Senior Consultant at the International Donors Programs of Ernst & Young. Since 2009 he focuses on the Greek Philanthropy Sector both academically and in practice, having, among others, organized and delivered capacity building trainings to more than 350 nonprofits in Greece and the Balkans supporting them in the increase of their operational and organizational capacity. He has written various academic articles on the Greek nonprofit ecosystem and delivered talks on how the various stakeholders can enhance the development of philanthropy in Greece. In partnership with A.C. Laskaridis Charitable Foundation he has established the yearly conference on Civil Society in Greece while he regularly publishes opinion articles on Civil Society Update, HIGGS Flagship e-magazine.
